According to The Bangkok Post, a Singaporean woman has been killed in a traffic accident in Phuket, Thailand.
It was reported that the car she was driving collided with a small tour bus at Plab Pla Curve on Patak Road on Kata Hill in the Karon sub-district, Mueang Phuket district.
It happened last night (12 August), and the police were alerted to the accident at around 11:20pm.
The car the woman was driving was a Toyota Yaris. When the police and rescue workers arrived, the car has been badly damaged.
The bus has a broken windscreen.
Deceased is a 21-Year-Old Singaporean
The Bangkok Post reported that the Singaporean woman, 21-year-old Renee Ho Jia Hui, was unconscious at the scene, and died on the way to the hospital.
It’s unknown why she was in Phuket.
In the car, there were four other Singaporeans who were all injured, too. Their conditions are currently unknown. They are Bryan Teo Li Yan, 30, Poh Mao Sin, 23, Pang Jing Ning Eliana, 21 and Ng Jia Xin, 22.
As for the bus, there were two passengers and a driver. The passengers were guides from Thailand and South Korea. All of them were taken to the hospital, too.
Preliminary investigations show that Ms Ho had lost control of the car while driving downhill.
Her car then collided with the bus, which had just taken a group of tourists to Kata beach earlier.
Driving in Phuket
According to Phuket.net, road accidents are the biggest cause of death to tourists in Thailand, and Phuket has one of the highest road accident rates in the country.
To get to popular beach resort town like Patong, one would need to drive on steep bends, and certain roads are rather narrows.
