The popular Malaysia Chiak! chain eatery which serves Malaysian hawker foods in a comfortable mall settings has been around for awhile now.
However, you might want to check out their other outlets if you’re a fan of them, as the outlet at Northpoint City has just been suspended by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) for two weeks due after it failed to keep its premises free from infestation.
The Outlet Failed Inspections Twice?
Within the past 12 months, the outlet at Northpoint City, spanning three units in the mall but looks a lot bigger as it’s an open concept with other restaurants in the same area, failed two inspections for pest infestations from the SFA.
This led it to incur six demerit points each from the agency during each occasion.
According to SFA’s regulations, any vendor who accumulates 12 or more demerit points within a 12-month period would be reviewed for possible license suspension for a period of two and four weeks…or cancelled.
All food handlers in the stalls of the eatery would also have to re-attend and pass level 1 of the Food Safety Course before operations can resume.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, it’s a basic requirement all individuals have to fulfil before working in the F&B industry.
Food hygiene officers working at the suspended premises would also have to pass level 3 of the course before they can continue work.
The Malaysia Chiak! outlet has also been fined a total of $800.
The suspension will last for a period of two weeks, from 21 September to 4 October 2022
Nestled in a corner of the basement of Northpoint City, this branch of the popular eatery is where many mall patrons pass by because it’s right next to the car park entrance.
So I guess, maybe it’d be wise to siam?that area if you’re intending to drive there in this period.
In the interest of maintaining a high standard of food hygiene at all eating establishments, the SFA would also like to advise members of the public who come across poor hygiene practices in food establishments not to patronise such outlets and provide feedback via the online feedback form or to call 6805 2871 with details for follow-up investigations.
