It seems that breaking into digital locks is becoming a trend. Not long after news surfaced of Ah Boys to Men actor Ryan Lian being caught on camera trying to pry open an electronic lock at a Telok Blangah resident’s home, a similar incident occurred—this time in Sengkang.
If this is some viral marketing campaign by a digital lock company, it’s safe to say they’ve made their point.

Man Caught on CCTV Trying to Break into Digital Lock at Sengkang; Claimed to be at Wrong Unit When Being Confronted
Residents of the Rivervale Shores HDB estate along Rivervale East in Sengkang were left shaken after a strange man was reportedly seen attempting to unlock electronic door locks on 11 October.
The incident prompted concerned residents to alert the police.
According to Shin Min Daily News, a homeowner had shared her experience on a residents’ Facebook group, stating that a man had tried to unlock the electronic lock on her wooden door.
When she opened the door from inside, the man appeared to pretend that he had mistakenly approached the wrong unit.
The homeowner questioned why, if he had gone to the wrong unit, the man tried to unlock the electronic lock on the wooden door rather than the metal gate at the front.
CCTV footage showed the man in question, wearing a blue shirt and sporting a beard, attempting to unlock the electronic lock. As the homeowner opened the door, he appeared startled and took two steps back.
The homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous, told Shin Min Daily News that she had filed a police report on the night of the incident, and the police had visited her home to record the details.
The police had reportedly patrolled the area but were unable to locate the man seen in the video.
When reporters visited the estate on a Saturday afternoon, most residents said they had not seen the man in the video before but expressed concern over the incident.
What’s interesting is that the Facebook post also sparked discussions among residents, with some homeowners from nearby HDB blocks claiming to have seen the man loitering near their units.
